United Way of Rhode Island: Simply write the name of the “Middletown Education Collaborative” in the section of the form that specifies “Donor Designation”. To help make your donations go further, check with your workplace to see if they will match your donation. Most major corporations have a matching gift program for employees.
Donate Your Points: Check with your credit card points system as many allow you to donate your earned points to the charity of your choice.
The Pension Protection Act of 2006: If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can make an outright gift to MEC by transferring funds directly from your individual retirement account (IRA) without paying federal income taxes on the distribution. Consult your financial planner or accountant to take advantage of this estate planning technique and others that benefit your estate tax.
Gifts of Appreciated Assets: Consider donations of stocks, bonds, life insurance proceeds or real estate to contribute to our annual fund or to fund a planned gift.
Bequests in Wills and Trusts: A gift to MEC in your will or trust proclaims your confidence that we will continue to pursue our mission and make a difference in the lives of future generations. This is easy to arrange and may give you tax and planning benefits. Contact MEc for ways to accomplish this gift and leave a legacy for education.
